New Improved Program for NETSETGO!

NET 5 - 6 Years - 8 Week Program (GNA RUN)

The Net tier of NetSetGO is a play based movement skills program over 8 – 10 weekly sessions that last between 45 – 60 minutes. Children join as individuals, not as a team and the emphasis is on the acquisition of basic movement skills in a fun environment.

Net is recommended for children aged 5 – 6 years. It encourages fun and friendship through netball related dance, games and activities.

SET 7- 8 Years - 12 Week Program (GNA RUN)

The Set tier of NetSetGO builds on the fundamental movement skills in Net, and introduces netball skills and basic netball strategy. Set introduces modified matches (rules and equipment) over 8 – 12 weeks, with two staged session, starting the session with a Activies/skills followed by a modified Game. Duration approx 1 hr and 15 mins.

Set is for children aged 7-8 years. It sets up the next generation of netballers with netball skills, teamwork and enthusiasm to take their game to the next level.
The Set tier includes games with modified rules. The modified rules have been designed to make the game more fun. They are:
4 x 8 minute quarters.
Size 4 ball.
Goal posts set at 2.4 metres (8 foot).
Players have up to 5 seconds to pass the ball.
1-2 steps to regain balance is allowed.
Strict one-on-one defending. Players may not defend a shot at goal.
Players should be given guidance if they are obstructing (i.e. defending from a distance of less than 1.2m or have arms away from the body so as to limit the movement of an opponent) and should not be penalised at the first instance.
Players should experience playing in ALL positions over the duration of the program or session.
Game time should be evenly distributed amongst all players.
The initial centre pass will be taken by the team that wins the toss. All other centre passes are taken by the non-scoring team.
Scores should not be kept during games, and there are no finals matches.

GO 9 - 10 Years - 16 Week Semi Competition (CLUBS RUN)

The GO tier of NetSetGO introduces participants to more netball-specific skills and refines their fundamental movement skills. They continue to take part in modified matches with the rules adapted to allow a smooth transition into junior netball (adult rules).

GO is the final tier of the program where the children participate in modified competition to ready them for junior netball and encourage them to become a lifelong fan
The GO tier includes games with modified rules however the modified rules have been designed to ensure a smooth transition into junior netball. They are:
4 x 10 minute quarters.
Size 4 ball.
Goal posts set at 2.4 metres (8 foot) or 3.05 metres (10 foot).
Players have up to 4 seconds to pass the ball.
Shuffling on the spot to regain balance, without moving down the court is allowed.
Strict one-on-one defending. Players may defend a shot at goal.
A player must defend from a distance no less than 1.2 metres (4 feet).
Players should experience playing in ALL positions over the duration of the program or session.
Game time should be evenly distributed amongst all players.
The initial centre pass will be taken by the team that wins the toss. Centre passes will then alternate.
Scores may be kept during games, but no ladder is produced, and there are no finals matches.

GNA would then move to full rules in transition for JNR 4.

All coaches and umpires will follow a rule change from after the JUNE/JULY Holidays, to support being on the same page to help develop our juniors.

The Aim of this proposal is by 2020 GO will be full rules and Net will become the only modified tier.
